In a recent phone conversation with David Westman, Executive Director of the national Emergency Nurses Association, the subject of
membership came up.
Over the past few years, membership in the Wisconsin ENA has trended with the rest if the country, increasing by as much as 20% per year. This year has seen a decline in that rate of new members although most states are still seeing a slight increase in their overall numbers. Wisconsin has actually had a slight decrease in overall membership by about two percent.
There are many possible reasons for this decline so we would love to hear from you, the members, regarding what we can do to improve the Wisconsin Emergency Nurses Association and create a better organization.
We also would ask that each member think about the possibility of getting involved within your particular region as well as attending State Council meetings and participating at that level. There is plenty of room and all voices and ideas are welcome.
Here, on the website, (www.wisconsinena.org), find out what is happening around your region and across the state as well as contact information for various members of the WENA leadership. There are plenty of ways to get involved through various committees. We are a volunteer organization and we need your help to make it successful.
